Marcelo’s Italian ancestors immigrated to Argentina in the early 1900s. Marcelo’s grandfather, Bernandino, settled in Argentina where he grew wheat, corn, and raised cattle. Marcelo grew up in a small farming community in the central valley of Cordoba, Argentina, where his family continues to harvest wheat and corn. As Marcelo grew up on this land, it was there that his love and dedication to the art of cultivation began. As a young man, Marcelo immigrated to the United States.

On a trip in 1985 to visit his uncle, Carlo Giacometti, in the Northern region of Turin, Italy, he found himself intrigued by the idea of harvesting wine after being influenced by his great uncle. It was his dream to own his own winery and produce wine as his ancestors in the Old Country.

Marcelo started with a bare piece of land, preparing the trellises and the irrigation lines. Two years later in 1997, Doffo Wines was awarded the silver medal from the Orange County Wine Society. Our commitment to excellence began with our first release and continues with each new vintage. Doffo’s award-winning wine is a product of focus and passion. Marcelo oversees all aspects of the wine production.

On the main road in the Temecula wine area, there is a small vineyard with a historical landmark schoolhouse which sits on the property, providing extra charm. Purchased in 1997 by Marcelo Doffo, just east of Wilson Creek winery, you’ll find the small vineyard resembling the past and awaiting the future. The passion that exists within every bottle of Doffo wines originates from our Italian ancestors.

Marcelo is very proud to present his wines and we hope that you enjoy every glass with the same love from which it was created.
